William Blake first appears in America in the National Anti-Slavery Standard in 1842. I discovered this article in print many years ago. Now it is online and is presented here also:
The earliest poem is ‘The Little Black Boy,’ which appeared in the issue dated 10 March 1842 (vol. II, no. 40, 160). Poems in subsequent issues: ‘The Chimney-Sweeper’, ‘Night’, ‘The Divine Image’, ‘A Dream’, ‘On Another’s Sorrow’, from the Songs of Innocence; and ‘Little Boy Lost’, ‘Ah! Sunflower’, from the Songs of Experience. See the article for further documentation.
